Ganguly and Shane fined
Sourav Ganguly and Shane Warne were on Friday fined 10 per cent of their match fee by the Indian Premier League (IPL) following the rival captains’ conduct during and after Thursday’s match in Jaipur.
Ganguly, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, was punished for asking the on-field umpire to refer a contentious catch to the third umpire.
Warne, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, was penalised for his criticism of Ganguly’s conduct in the match during the post-match press conference.
“Warne was found guilty of violating Section 1.7 of the ICC’s Code of Conduct, which deals with public criticism of, or inappropriate comment on a match-related incident or official. It constitutes a Level 1 offence,” added Mr. Modi. “The Referee has also suspended Pratap Kumar for one match, on the grounds that there was no reason for him to accede to Ganguly’s request to consult the TV umpire.”
